This author is like the master at finding the balance between incredibly nuanced and essentially simple. I feel like there are always so many layers. Anyway, love Temeraire and Laurence and their dynamics. Laurence and Tharkay kill me 😭😭😭. The emotions I felt through this were real.

Solved the wanting more about what Temeraire was thinking, with the sections from his POV. This one was hurt a bit!

I loved this fifth Temeraire book - after Lawrence gave the cure to France, he has been sentenced to death and Temeraire is kept in a breeding camp, both keeping each other on good behaviour. Then Temeraire decides he's had enough, and leads the dragons to save England from invasion. Fabulous swash-buckling drama, and Temeraire is fantastic leading the dragons.
