A very short Christmas novella! A quick and easy read (or listen) about two grumpy who aren't big fans of Christmas. As they correspond through letters under pen names, they grow to realize maybe they like the holidays... and maybe they like each other?

If you’re looking for a quick, Christmas read THIS IS IT!
Seriously, why isn’t it longer? I enjoyed it so much and wanted more from Caleb and Nola

i was so busy in december i only read one christmas book when i had over twenty on my tbr list so i thought id sneak in a last christmas book before january ends

this was cute, simple and very short but it had a lot of tropes:
- grumpy x grumpy
- second chance romance
- enemies to lovers kind of because they were ex’s ?
- small town
- anonymous pen pals
- and kind of insta love (which it basically has to be considering it’s a rly short novella)

Considering how short this Christmas novella was, Resting Scrooge Face was well rounded. A super short read that didn't feel rush at all and if anything, I would totally be onboard if Nola and Caleb got their own book 🥰

Spoiler Does my piss-poor attitude—including my insane letter to Christmas—have anything to do with the one that got away, the woman who just so happened to move back to our small, wintery town in the heart of Maine? Absolutely, it does.

After following her dream career in New York, Nola has made the decision to move back in with her parents after a bad breakup and while she isn't in the mood to celebrate Christmas, she's even less in the mood to run into her first love and ex-boyfriend who broke her heart.

Spoiler “What on earth are you doing, child?” Grandma Louise asks, peering over the trash can.
“Shhh, act like I’m not here.”
“Why on earth would I do that?”
“Because Caleb is up ahead, and I don’t want him to see me. Now just be cool, Grandma.”
Understanding falls over her expression. “Ah, okay. The avoidance technique. Got it.”

Nervous to run into each other after so many years, Nola manages to avoid Caleb the first time by hiding behind a garbage bin but soon crosses paths with him in a cafe that doesn't end well. If anything, the anger between them gets worse.

Spoiler My palms sweat, my nerves kick up, and I’m so freaked out about what to do because sitting right next to me is none other than Nola Bisley. The girl who got away . . . after I broke her heart. The same girl who said she’d never talk to me again, not in a million years. And yet here she is, talking to me. Well, talking to my newspaper.

I will say the entire story of Resting Scrooge Face is pretty stinkin' cute, and while I had zero expectations for this novella, the interactions between them via anonymous letters really helped the story progress smoothly.

Would recommend for a Christmas read 👌🏼

Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn is a delightful and heartwarming novella that will leave you feeling cheerful and festive. Perfect for the holiday season, this audiobook is a second-chance romance that features a meddling grandmother and a nosy mailman who are determined to help two old flames reconnect.

Set in the charming town of Bright Harbor, Maine, Nola is determined to avoid Christmas after a bad breakup. However, her plans are derailed when she receives a mysterious letter from a fellow Scrooge. As she begins to correspond with her new pen pal, little does she know that it's none other than Caleb, the boy who broke her heart years ago.

As the two exchange letters, their animosity towards each other slowly melts away, and they find themselves flirting with one another. But can they overcome their past and create a future together?

I especially enjoyed the humorous and touching letters exchanged between the two main characters. It was a unique and sweet twist on the typical small-town romance that we often see during the holiday season. Overall, Resting Scrooge Face is a charming and uplifting story that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside
