Spoiler
"Losers focus too much on means and lose sight of winning. Captains don't have that luxury. Someone may owe you or you may owe someone. But the moment you start a war...you're both evil." - Shunsui's outlook on the evil of war shows such a depth in his character and this quote frames all armed conflict within Bleach's universe so far.

I loved the showdown between Hisagi, Komamura and the former Captain Tōsen. I loved the showdown between Shunsui and Starrk, and I love how Shunsui’s shadow ability mirrored Starrk and Lilynette’s origin and how they are two halves (or shadows) of a whole powerful Hollow who split apart so it wouldn’t be lonely. I love how Shunsui and Starrk both admired one another and didn’t truly want to fight each other, but both knew that they’d be forced to kill the other even though they could have easily been friends in another life. I loved how Starrk and Lilynette’s flashback made me empathize with them and their story so much more, and I loved how they died together and realized they were no longer alone in this world. I was surprised to see Kensei use his Bankai here since he didn’t in the anime. I loved this decision and how the Visoreds appear to be much more fleshed out here than in the anime. I liked how Halibel is cut down by Aizen and how two of the top Espadas turn on him in their final moments of battle. Hiyori being cut down by Gin was so surprising because it was so much more brutal than the anime depiction.
