A good story that explored the terror of the London blitz. I honestly hadn't considered the blitz in this way despite having read a couple other novels featuring it.

Also good characterization. The protagonist is fifteen and she acts (stupidly) like a fifteen year old.

In and of itself, it's a great read.

My problem was I was getting "The Atonement" and "The Secret Keeper" vibes and constantly comparing them to each other. Like, they tell different stories with different emphases and takeaways... but there are overlapping themes, and I like "The Secret Keeper" the best. So the 4 stars is because it's not as good as that novel.

Maybe that's not a fair way to rate a book....sorry.
