Really good! I wasn’t expecting this to be as literary as it was - it had all the hallmarks of a typical pulpy horror (which I wouldn’t mind) but it was more a story of human life than anything. While it was my first introduction to King’s work, I understand that it is a bit of an outlier in its humanness. It makes the book even sweeter that it’s a one-off. Very good.

Before reading this I had never had a book make me want to throw up before. This was horrifying. I had to speed read through the back third because I was so scared and upset. I should have known better when this story opened on a 4 year old boy that now was not the time to read this (having two small boys of my own). 

As with most King I've read this was very good. Unlike most King I've read it was also very upsetting. I'm glad I only have an ebook and not a physical copy so I don't have to worry about it stalking me in my home.
