(I want to technically give this book 3.5 stars)
This is not a simple, hot, hard, and fast D/s BDSM story. Don't get me wrong, it had ALL of those things, but it wasn't exactly *about* those things. It was romance above all else. About falling in love with yourself, and accepting that love so you can love someone else. And then get tied up and spanked. Lucian and Dahlia are your usual D/s stereotypes. Powerful CEO with family issues, and the innocent women who needs to be controlled. Lucian could have been a normal guy off the street, and I still would have enjoyed his character. But I know, power struggle and millions for auctions. There's nothing like discussing BDSM over celery sticks and diet coke! The first week of the D/s relationship was completely skipped over, so that was a let down. Oh, and then the second week was skipped! Lucian's need to protect and care for Dahlia made up for it. (Even though I wish we could have been part of that unfolding.) I knew RED was coming, but I wasn't prepared for the heartbreak it brought with it! The ending made me feel incomplete. Do we actually get the happily ever after, or just a quick cherry on top with a kiss on the cheek? What happens with the ex-wife? It did a great job setting up the next book in the series....but maybe finish this story first!
My Favorite Quotes:
•'Just the thought of sinking deep inside her makes me relax.'
•"You’re so beautiful, do you know that?"
•"I don’t want to have to think like that anymore"
•"You asked for more. That was me giving you more."
•"I need you to stay, treasure."
•"Let me love you forever."
7/10 Romance
9/10 Dirty Birdy
