Moderate: Classism, Blood, Grief, Alcohol, Body horror, Drug use, Gaslighting, Misogyny, and Antisemitism
the story is strange and beautiful, but the main characters are all extremely flawed. there are also some aspects of misogyny and antisemitism that are unrelated to the plot, so i do warn you to be aware of the authors prejudices so you can critically read the story.zia_c's review against another edition

The story was easy to follow and the fast pace was pretty enjoyable. I personally had a problem with some of Harry's ramblings as they became a bit annoying after the first act. Chapter 11 was also entirely dreadful, incredibly tedious...
Overall, I can say that I finally understand why people recommend this to newer readers, its certainly a very good introduction to classics.

Well. It's complicated.
I won't talk about the blantant antisemitism and horrible mysoginy, but damn that made it hard to read. I understood that Henry *is* a bad influence, but it was unhinged.
The first half of the book was pretty slow, nothing really happend. But the middle and second part? That was something, and it made the overall experience much much better.
I loved the psychology in this book, it reminded me little bit of The Cremator - how much you can influence one.
I also loved the flower symbolisms throughout the book.
