I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I felt that it starts a bit oddly paced, but quickly finds a rhythm, and the mayor is so so so good. I love the blend of magic and historical intrigue, with a smidge of romance thrown in. The MC Agatha is whip smart, snarky, and refuses to be the demure sweet woman of her time. The Love interest Grimm is adorably baffled by her, and definitely has no idea what to do about her. I love the relationship with Agatha's sisters, and that we get an introduction to their pets. The settings are described very well, giving you a crisp mental picture of locations. This book also made me crave pumpkin bread, lol. I highly recommend this to anyone into fantasy, magic realism, and reluctant romances thrown together by fate.

My only dislikes are that there are some jarring descriptions of deaths, but it's not a large part of the story.
