I want to gush about this for having a dominant protagonist. Most romance protags seem to be (extremely passive, whiny, entitled, unusually immature for their age) subs, and as a card-carrying switch, I want to say it sucks and I am tired. We deserve better FMCs, like Kelly. Mistaken Identity, conversely, is such a green flag in its portrayals of BDSM, and relationships in general. It doesn't even pointlessly demonize Kelly's ex, even if she's not an especially nice person, because it makes very clear that she has her own baggage to deal with. But like... it also wasn't a particularly grabbing read for me, and could probably have used editing for SPAG.

There's a little bit of mystery to who it was that Kelly had sex with, and Donna Jay doesn't immediately spell it out to us like she assumes readers are braindead, but also once that plot point is resolved it isn't really replaced by anything?
Lucy
and Kelly are extremely cute together, and kinda goals, and I like that, but I think I would have to be in a very particular (and rare for me) mood to eat up this much aimless fluff. But hey, it isn't somehow 500 pages too long, and it doesn't endlessly repeat the same mediocre scenes at me, so I'll take that over... whatever the industry is doing at the moment.

Well that was sweet, fun... and a little hot. I think "wholesome" is the word ?

What hit me on this reread was the tenderness the main character had for her friends and family as well as her love interest.

Wow, what an original case of mistaken identity!

This is a well written and developed story that I enjoyed from start to finish. I would say the takeaway of this book for me is to let go of things that aren’t working for you and embrace those that do.

I will be rereading this book in the future.

Although my wife would likely never forgive me for such a misunderstanding, the case of Mistaken Identity at the core of Donna Jay's kinky little romance is a lot of fun. It is an honest mistake, even if it was helped along a little by alcohol, and the moment Kelly realizes the confusion is beautifully handled.

Just imagine if you had orally pleasured the wrong woman, a woman who knows who you were, but who remains a complete mystery to you. It is a delightful way to kick off a comic, sometimes kinky, romance.

As is often the case with Donna's work, it is the characters who make it so enjoyable, and the honesty of their encounters that keep the story grounded. I loved the age difference between Kelly and Paula, and thought that was a great way to bring us into the story, but the other romance was even more intriguing. The BDSM elements are subtle and playful, entirely suitable to novice readers to dabble in, and the emotions are even more exciting than the physical sensations.

I was afraid this was going to get dark, sad, or confrontational, given the fact that it opens with an accidental act of infidelity, which leads to distracted longing, with at least one partner who is kind of a witch-with-a-b, but Donna keeps it tight and positive. I was equally afraid the 'big reveal' of Kelly's lover might not live up to the anticipation, but it does . . . and then some. Mistaken Identity is a fun read, a delightful romance with as much heart as humor, and far more chemistry than kink. Another fab read!

What a clever plot line! I was hooked from page 1! Mistaken Identity is my first Donna Jay read and I will definitely be reading her others. I can't believe after all of the lesfic books I've read over the years, a Donna Jay hasn't been among them. I sure am glad I stumbled across this title. I don't want to give any spoilers in this review because as good part of the book Kelly and her best friend Nicole spend trying to figure out who Kelly had sex with, thinking it was her girlfriend. All I"ll say is that I loved this book, the characters, the chemistry, the plot, the witty dialogue and I highly recommend it!

This was wild. Spun fantastically as a series of coincidences and very entertaining to read but definitely wild.

3 stars | I don't know why I didn't think to look on Scribd before spending about $35 on books I could've read with my Scribd subscription last week -_- That being said, I enjoy this one by Donna Jay! I found the writing to be just as strong in this one, but I wasn't as captivated by the story.
