One of my favorite books. I have bought this as a gift multiple times just because I truly recommend this book. I actually initially borrowed this book from a coworker and after reading it I had to buy a copy for myself. The suspense throughout the book and the character development was just amazing. I loved how it kept me guessing and just really thinking. Great read! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

The villain was pretty predictable. However Suzanne Rindell's endings always have me scratching my head. And this ending was definitely ambiguous, which was a bit unsettling for me. Definitely a Rebecca-ish feel.

The Two Mrs. Carlyles is a story set in San Francisco in the early 1900s. Violet and her two friends, Cora and Flossie, meet at an orphanage. When the orphanage burns to the ground, they need to find another place to live. The story follows the 3 girls as they grow and mature, until one of them meets a wealthy man and marries him. But, is the man truthful? Is he hiding something? Can the 3 friends stick together?
I think this book has traces of Rebecca by DuMaurier, and there is some suspense and darkness, but I felt the book could have easily been 100 pages shorter. If it had been shorter, I think it would have been more eerie and suspenseful.
Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.

Gothic suspense with doe-eyed protagonist who is constantly ten steps behind the reader. It's no fun when the heroine is the only one who has no idea what's going on.

Easily one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. I couldn’t put it down! I just kept needing to know what would happen next. As soon as I thought I had it all figured out, everything twisted around on me again and proved me wrong. I absolutely loved it.
