This book really had me on the edge of my seat. There were so many twists and unexpected revelations, as well as things that were still left a mystery. I would not be suprised if a sequal were to come out.
SpoilerI liked how it showed that almost everyone is Desiree's life did not have her best interest at heart (except for Lena) which I feel is a sad reality for many Black reality T.V. stars. I felt the revelation of who was Desiree's killer at the end was unexpected, but I would not be suprised if there was more to the story, especially with Desiree's friend.

It was slow at the beginning and then when it finally got to the good parts it ended way too fast. I did like the story though

once you notice how many similes are used you can’t unsee it.

would have DNF’d if it wasn’t for a bookclub. I never guess mystery books right except for this one and I think it’s bc it was so glaringly obvious

Oh man a book that I wanted to like so much more than I did! But ultimately this falls in the too much drama, too many red herrings, and unsatisfying ending that I find with most thrillers I’ve read here lately! What worked for me was the main character going in on the hunt I found that very exciting and I enjoyed her narration. I also quite enjoyed the bestie she really surprised me multiple times. But there was a lot of emotional turmoil that was spread too thin across too many tragedies so I had a hard time feeling for them in the gravity that I would have liked. Ultimately the ending was not explained properly like who is this person exactly and why are they so upset about this situation what’s on the table risk wise? The motive was not good enough at all!!

The storyline is intriguing. A woman is found dead and her sister wants to know what happened to her. The cover captures your attention with its bright red color and the necklace. This book has strong language that will not be for everyone. I enjoyed the book as her sister investigated the murder.

where was this story going. there was not enough at stake to make me truly care for this story. Also, i probably would have kept trying but i could NOT hear Lena say "shitnuts" anymore. like WHY would you make your main character say that so often? totally took me out of the story and made me lose respect for lena as a character
