Book two in the Lakes Hockey series was NOT a plot I expected going into it, but it still hit the mark.

It’s a little bit trashier than I typically read, but had some very well written smut.

Rhys is a dirty-talking dom and Freya, aka Micky, is a feisty, webcam girl. That is until she develops a crush on one of her followers, who just happens to be her new NHL neighbor whom she despises.

The plot is very easy to follow and moves pretty quickly. The book touches upon some sensitive subjects regarding addition but handles them very well.

ᴛʀɪɢɢᴇʀ ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢs: degradation, addiction, drug use, death

𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘦: neighbors to lovers, enemies to lovers, dom/sub, forced proximity, hidden identity, third-act break-up

Strong and Wild is teamed with lust, banter, and pain. Micky and Rhys, much like Birdie and Lonan, share similar traumas that they have each processed differently and must learn to manage in new ways in order to allow themselves a happier future.

It’s a heart-wrenching story, mixed with sex and steam that will make you blush.

There are elements of the story that feel like they have been moved around, which can make the timeline difficult to keep up with. There are also some scenes where only pronouns are used or the formatting is confused which means the reader does not know who is being referred to in the scene or who is speaking. That can cause some distraction when reading so is something to look out for during the editing process.

🌶️🌶️🌶️
She’s the cam girl he’s obsessed with and moves in next door, he falls first but she’s betrayed/untrusting (as she should be)
Love how she calls him out on all his shit and makes him grovel (wish he groveled longer but he showed he was always invested)
Hockey rookie, no OWD, addiction issues were heartwrenching

I liked these characters a lot! I wish we got more of different parts of their stories, but overall everything worked well. Drug use and substance use disorder are central to this book and I think the author handled this well.
