delightful! i love when middle grade and juggle the digestible tone of children’s books without sacrificing lore or intrigue, which i think was done really well here.

Oh my goodness, I adored this! So cute and wholesome. Mostly cozy with a bit of darkness. I loved the art style, too.

The anxiety rep could've been a bit more nuanced, but I'm willing to overlook that since this is a middle grade graphic novel.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Bea, Cad, and of course Nimm (obviously the cat must be included).

I'll be continuing the series and already own the next book. 😁

If you're a fan of T. Kingfisher's MG and YA fantasy novels, I'd recommend giving this book a try!

I'm probably a little too old to be considered the target audience for this book (I'm 14), but nevertheless, I absolutely adored this graphic novel and every little thing about it!

This book has one of the most gorgeous art styles I have ever seen. The colour palette is so warm and mellow, and it compliments the vibe of this book incredibly well.

I loved the characters in this book. They were all charming and interesting in their own ways. I saw myself a lot in Bea, watching her overthink and freeze up when things got too overwhelming. Those little snapshots of her anxiety (quite literally) surrounding her really added to her character and made her all that much more relatable. I genuinely wanted to give her a hug during those scenes :')

The simple plot made it really easy to follow. The world of Irpa is such a fascinating place and was really cleverly set out. I really enjoyed following the growth of Bea and Cad's friendship, and their interactions with others and the outside world. It was interesting to see how their opposite personalities complimented each other.

And overall, this book was amazing! It's so underrated that it physically hurts me. Would definitely recommend.

Beautifully illustrated with detailed world building, I can’t wait to find out more. Great representation of what it feels like to have anxiety, too.
