I didnt get this book at all, and as a bookworm, I was very disappointed. I went into this book and left with absolutely squat.

The flaw for Gatsby was trusting too much that his benevolent intentions would lead to benevolent results and responses. Daisy and Tom smash and break everything while riding away in their car, none the wiser, while Nick watches everything unfold, watching the fall of a man he so admired. Beautiful work, and deserving of the titles it's claimed.

I watched the movie first and then had to read the book for school and it wasn't too bad. Not a favorite but not terrible. Movie was better (but I probably only think that cause I watched it first).

I hate how this book ends, but it was so unexpected. The main characters are really kind of awful people. However, this book was brilliant as it left me thinking. I'm still developing the characters in my own mind, because there were things left undone. I'm thinking about character motivation and how Daisy basically gets off the hook.

re-read (audio): April 2013

audiobook note: At first I wasn't impressed by Anthony Heald's reading, but I have to confess to being won over. Good pacing and inflection offset any concerns.

I had to read this in high school. It was good, but not a favorite of mine.

Don't do this to yourself. It's not worth it.
