I'm really happy to have read this book. Reviews were all so favorable and I now know why. The annoying Patrick who can be a loving and caring Uncle - the gay Uncle to the kids of his brother. The whole narrative was beautiful. I liked how author focussed on the fact that it doesn't matter what sexuality you have to the kids you are raising. They just need love, compassion, care and loads of fun.

Very subtly author describes how lonely and difficult a life can be even for a gay man contrary to what people belive. Gay men love the same way staright people. They mourn for years for their partners instead of fooling around. This book is kind of a reality check on why and how gay men needs to be included more in the family ties as well. A family is everything you need yo fight loneliness, heartbreak, depression and such sort of setbacks.

I say it is a good read.

The Guncle is a story about a former TV star who agrees to have his Niece and Nephew live with him over the summer due to unexpected family tragedy. This funny yet heartwarming story touches on topics of family, grief, healing, and living life to the fullest.

The main character’s (Patrick) whit and sarcasm reminded me a lot of Michael Urie (Younger/ Ugly Betty) and hope they consider him for upcoming movie adaptation!

Overall this book was easy to read and would recommend!
