This was my first historical fiction that I read for my bookclub. I was intrigued to find out about Ann’s life but felt the book was a little slow and drawn out for my liking.

This was such an inspiring historical fiction novel! Ann Lowe's life and work, all her hardships and blessings, offer a captivating account of resilience through the eyes of a talented (but also humble and faithful) artist and fashion designer. I was impressed by Piper Huguley's ability to weave research and fiction together in her writing. I felt so connected to Ann because the book read like an autobiography. It is well done, and I think Ann Lowe would agree.

A wonderful story of a little known black seamstress . With the US history, there are many contributions and inspiring individuals that are “hidden” when they should be acknowledged. Anne Lowe’s history and contribution is worthy of celebrating!

Really liked this one, especially the opening chapters taking place in the Jim Crow-era South. Went back and forth from book to audio and LOVED Tracy Conyer Lee's narration.
