This book is about a young girl name Melinda and her struggle of overcoming an event that occurred in her life. Melinda is a witty and intelligent girl who doesn't speak. She is able to sort through her thoughts and problems through art as well as rebuilding friendships as well as making new ones. As the story progresses, the pieces of Melinda's story come together revealing what happened to her and how she overcame it.
I loved this book. Laurie Halse Anderson wrote this story really well and Melinda is wonderful character. I would definitely recommend this book because of the message it has also because Anderson's writing is wonderful.

This was a very powerful book and I really loved it. The character of Melinda had so much depth.
