This was definitely a solid thriller/mystery/horror book but at times it was difficult to read. I will say I absolutely didn't predict the ending so I'll give definite props to Nesbø for creating a story that was so unpredictable yet so satisfying. I think what took away stars for me was that there were a few too many "side plots" to stay engaged in the main story. Without spoiling anything- there's a part of this book where Harry meets up with an old friend to get advice on a suspect and I thought that whole portion of the book could have been cut out. But it's a creative take on the classic "serial killer" story so I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to read a creepy, slightly gory winter book.
