I love Cooper and Park, don't get me wrong. But not a single case had me hooked, had me interested or let me pay any attention. It's always the same: way too many underdeveloped side characters/crime suspects and every time I get confused who the hell this person was again so I find myself skip-reading through the side characters stuff. But Cooper and Park, every scene with them, I really enjoyed and swooned and I even got really good sexy time. Sometimes Cooper does a bit too often inner monologues. But this is a good comfort series.

Didn’t have time/other books were more interesting to me. It felt like the same plot,  same issues, different setting so I wasn’t intrigued enough to finish.

The idea of aq is so stupid I can't get passed it. I appreciate how each book their communication as a couple improves.

This one took a slight dive downwards in quality, but that might be me just not being a huge fan of this setting. The plot was a tiny bit hard to follow too -- lots of inheritances, and siblings with two different last names. I was confused for awhile, basically. THOUGH we did get LOADS more lore, and now we have more specifics when it comes to werewolves. I loved learning more about the species, and hope that we'll get even more in the last book.

I also wasn't a fan of Cooper and Park having to pretend to be other people for like...90% of this book. Once they were themselves again, I was much more interested. Though I am glad that Coop is finally realizing how much his attack messed him up mentally. At least he'll be getting help for that. Hopefully.

I still love these two so so much. I'm so glad I started this series. It's so good.

Honestly, this being the penultimate book in this series scares me because I am not ready to say goodbye to this couple. At this point, I am obsessed with Cooper and Oliver, their love, and their communication.

So, as Cooper aptly recognizes in this installment, every four months or so, our dashing heroes find themselves knee-deep in some major shit. This time, their investigation takes them to a couple's therapy retreat for wolves in search of a missing wolf that turns out to be so much more. For their relationship, too. Hey, they may be happily in love, but that doesn't mean some counseling isn't helpful!

One of the things I really like about this series is that things aren't magically solved. Like, communication styles and disruptive thought patterns that we have used for literal decades aren't going to disappear because we've decided to be better or because we rationally know we shouldn't drown in them. So yes, Oliver did learn to trust and let Cooper into his wolfy world more, but that doesn't mean he's going to share and tell him everything instantly (frustrating though it may be). Yes, Cooper has vowed to be more communicative, but it doesn't mean he's going to share everything immediately. And just because Cooper understands Oliver truly loves him doesn't mean the imposter syndrome is going to go away--doesn't mean he's going to suddenly feel worthy of that affection. Like, there is something so beautifully human and real about it all, you know?

And the two of them are working through it, slowly but surely. It honestly makes me weak in the knees. When meeting Oliver's family, Oliver mentioned that part of the reason no one believes he's truly left the pack is because he is still a Park. But he also said how
it's because he had no other surname to use. My first thought when he said that was, "Dayton sounds like a great surname to me *wink wink nudge nudge*" AND NOW IT'S HAPPENING! Cannot explain how overjoyed I was.

Speaking of... One thing I really like about this series is how Cooper,
human, normal Cooper, is the most alpha of them all. Like, when Oliver said getting a hundred in the AQ test is impossible, I was like, "Cooper's gonna get it, ain't he?" and YES. My man. My disaster child. The alpha-est of them all. LMAO
.

Anyways, regarding the mystery, I--once again--have mixed feelings about it. Some parts we could definitely sleuth for ourselves. But the biggest parts? No way, because there was too much information withheld from us. Like, we didn't
even know Claymount's father was a scientist before the climax, let alone a mad scientist experimenting on people in his quest to figure out AQ, so how were we to figure out Joyce was a co-worker and the villain?!
. And I guess this is also true to life--you're not always going to be given all the clues to the mystery beforehand--but I admit I like my mystery books a bit more meticulously planned.

I still don't understand much about how werewolves work, though. Even four books in, the rules are fuzzy at best. Like, what does Mate actually mean in this world? Is it just... a wolfy synonym to "partner" used to describe couples? Or does it mean more, like in many other werewolf novels I've read? Because so far, it doesn't appear to. Dominance or AQ is also confusing to me. What does it actually mean, and when will anyone properly explain it to Cooper!? I wonder if Eli's spin-off would be more forthcoming.

One final book to go with this couple, and I am devastated.

Another perfect book to this series. Cooper is just so funny, especially in this one. I adore him. And Oliver is perfect, but he is even more perfect to Cooper. Really this story gives me everything I ever hoped for in a book. Their love is just beautiful and I absolutely love how they trust each other, how there is no lies for they to fight over. I could read books about them forever.
