Lighthearted, yet deep. Self-aware and self-exploratory. Very interesting and positive read. I hope she writes another book in the future. So much has changed, but she is still a bawse.

Quick too simple chapters. I would have liked a bit more, well a lot more time spent on her advice. It read like a list that I could find online lacking most of her charm. Yes, there was some there, but it was so brief. I bought this for my daughters but ended up reading it after they didn't finish it. All of us were disappointed, it was too little substance and a lot of cheesy lines. Where was the life changing advice ?

"Bawse" is such a brilliant, funny, and empowering book!! I have about a zillion little sticky tabs throughout this book highlighting Lilly's words of wisdom and advice. I've been watching her videos for years now and her personality just shines through in her book on conquering life!
I wish some of the chapters were longer, but that's partially because I could read her words all day. The 50 chapters connected and built on one another beautifully and were incredibly inspiring to me personally.
10/10, would recommend!! <3

While a lot of what she says seems to be common sense, common sense isn't so common anymore. Reiterating that hard work is what's needed to succeed is like being reminded to breathe while working out; sometimes you just need that reminder.

The humor throughout the book is refreshing and helped keep it from seeming like a lecture. There were some things that I thought were insightful such as shaking everyone (even the production team's) hand.

One thing that I’d like to point out is whether you like or dislike iisuperwomanii aka Lilly Singh, she is as true to herself in this book as she is in her vlogs, skit/themed videos and interviews. It is an engaging book that encourages you to move forward and keep moving no matter your pace. Her writing is clear and to the point and has managed to share/ teach through her experiences without sounding preachy. If you’re stuck or lost then I’d definitely recommend this book to you, the worst that’d happen is you’d pass your time reading a book that is drama-free and fun.

Lily had a lot of good things to say. Each chapter had a good life lesson. If people have watched her videos, they can see how the styles are really similar. She has quick and small anecdotes in each chapter. And she has references that any people can relate to. In that sense, I can see why this book won a Goodreads award in 2017.

That being said, this is a very general book. Anytime someone writes a book of ideas on how to lead a better life, it will be a hard read. Because the book is not expanding on a single idea. So, the book does not reinforce the same message. The problem with books like this is that it would feel like an hour-long compilation of 10-20 short videos instead of an actual hour-long video. It hits differently. And it felt rushed. An unfortunate consequence of that is that the anecdotes did not always click.

I would recommend this book to someone who does not have the reading habit. Or, read each chapter like a 50-day challenge. Get someone to do it with you. And each day, you talk to your friend/family regarding the chapter. Because the things she had to say, had substance.

I think if I had read this when it first came out, I would have found it more informative and helpful in my life. While many of the details of the tips are good, I think the overarching theme of being a "bawse" or engaging in the hustle is kind of outdated and is a huge reason for so much burn out. Also it just feeds into the capitalist machine which just doesn't hit with me. Sorry Lilly.

I'm not a fan of Lilly (not that I don't like her...I just don't follow people on YouTube, tbh) but I did stumble upon some of her vids and then found out about this book. 2017 was a year of many failures for me in all aspects of my life so I really needed any advice I could get. Some of the Actual Content could have been longer/more in-depth (I skimmed a lot of it tbh) but I still appreciated how real she was and how her personality so unapologetically shined through. Some of the advice IS a bit generic but I did learn a few things. Good way to wrap up my 2017 Goodreads challenge. :)
