Stress man, it’ll get ya. It’s quite dense so have to be in the right mindset when you go in. Also, it’s a slightly frightening book and maybe not good for over thinkers. Need to take it with the full context and not too literally.
He goes into the science behind how repression and early childhood trauma cause subtle but persistent stress on the body and thus, eventually on the immune system. Unaddressed trauma, differentiation, personality needs etc makes you more vulnerable to chronic and auto/immune disease.

Het is altijd gevaarlijk om complexe ziektes zoals auto-immuunziekten of kanker op 1 oorzaak te steken. Genen kunnen niet alles verklaren, net zo min als omgevingsfactoren. Maar wat ik goed vind aan dit boek is dat het ook het psychologische aspect belicht. En nog belangrijker wordt er een aanzienlijk deel van het boek ook eerder een sociologische oorzaak belicht. Ik denk dat we meer holistisch naar die dingen moeten kijken. In mijn naaste omgeving krijg ik ook te maken met auto-imuunsymptomen die onverklaard blijven. En ik denk dat een invalshoek als deze voor veel mensen een doorbraak kan betekenen.

I had borrowed this book from the library and couldn’t renew my borrow because other people had it on hold. I am hoping to borrow it again soon so I can finish it.
