This is a collection of 200 historical photos which have been digitally colourised. It spans from the 1850s to the 1950s and each chapter covers a decade, starting with a timeline of key events. I picked it up because I was interested in the photos but I ended up being just as fascinated by accompanying descriptions. The writing is clear and concise and it covers so many major events in world history, many of which I had vaguely heard of but didn't know any details about. It was often a heavy read, as much of the century was shaped by war and colonisation, but there were also lighter moments focusing on technology and pop culture. The photos are amazing and completely succeed in providing a new perspective on the past.
