I love you KJ Charles. I loved this one even more than Secret Lives and I really loved that one

I need more of these people - NOW! Oh these characters make my heart so full.
Rufus finally assumes his inheritance - only to have it questioned again. By Luke Doomsday. Acting as Rufus' secretary, Luke clearly hides other motives for being in the manor. Caught sneaking in the dark, Luke can't help but inflame the passion between him and Rufus. And wow does the world catch on fire.
I was thrilled Luke was a main character - with references to Gareth and Joss, of course.
Everything I could hope for in a sequel - very impatient for the next installment.

There are some authors that you hear about all the time, and you always mean to get around to reading them and it just never happens. I know that people love K.J. Charles, and I've heard that before beginning my queer, historical romance novel journey, and. Damn. People sure are right.

I really, really loved this book, and the characters were delightful and. Just. Delightful book! Glad I finally got around to reading a KJC book.

This is the first review I have ever written on Goodreads, and I've had this for at least five years.

I'm not sure if it was just me or the narrator or something else, but I just could not get into this one. The two leads were just a touch too bland for my taste and I found my concentration slipping away from me by the minute. Maybe I'll give it another try and some point but going to DNF for now.

Just as amazing as the first book.

I was SO pleased when I found out that Luke would be getting his own story. I loved him as a sweet but mistreated teenager and really just wanted better for him. Even though adult Luke made some questionable decisions, I knew his heart would be in the right place and was still in his corner the whole time. As for Rufus, it was very easy to like him. His no nonsense practicality and unending kindness, despite his colourful cursing, was in sharp contrast to the rest of his family's upper crust stuffiness. Although I must admit that once they warmed up to Rufus, I quite liked the cousins' characters. Otto it particular I thought was adorable. Overall this book was just excellent cover to cover. Luke and Rufus complimented each other perfectly and had great chemistry. The story flowed effortlessly and the audio narration was excellent. This author's work will never cease to delight me.

I loved this book and will soon relisten. Both characters were well developed but the angry ex-earl was a caricature.
