Kicked ass. Ahead of her time. And she is one that inspired me as a teenager to get into investigative journalism. I always recommend her to those who want to report on their adventures. This girl had a screw loose in the best way.

A period piece that truly shows the racism and mysigoy that is mental health treatment of late 1800’s. Interesting insights but overall smells of privileged white women savior.

This book was difficult to read. Nellie Bly talks about women being forced to stay in the asylum even though they are mentally stable as well as women being mistreated and abused by staff. My heart breaks for the men and women who were treated this way. I’m so glad Nellie Bly was brave and decided to get a first hand account of the asylums.
