I began this book excited by a lead character with ASD and interested to learn a bit more about it, and it did do this, especially at the start. However, in the second half everything just went a bit weird. The plot randomly went from 0 to 100 in the space of a few chapters and then everything was resolved again almost instantly, and while Grace was great, everyone else felt two-dimensional and a bit cartoon-y.

I loved this book! The ins and outs of teenage life from the perspective of a girl with Asperger's. This book interested me because I work with a lot of children with ASD and it's really interesting to read about a teenage girl trying to get through the day to day routines.
I absolutely loved Grace as a fun, quirky character who is honest and funny. Anna her best friend is also really understanding and genuinely a brilliant bestie. Also, GABE! How cute is he?!
All the characters are fab, even the dreaded Holly Carmichael is brilliant because she is so believable.
I can't not talk about Mabel, I get the feeling that she brings a bit of serenity and calming influence into Grace's life, kind of like a lifeline when Grace feels overwhelmed.
I would say that this short book is crammed with plotlines, in a good way. You feel like you get to know Grace and co. really well and at the end you're like AHHH WHAT?!
It's a fabulous read and one I will definitely recommend to everyone!

Charming YA romance with a protagonist who is a teenage girl with "high-functioning", Aspergers-y autism. This isn't a perfect book when it comes to plotting but the portrayal of Grace, her inner life, her relationships, and how she perceives the world is utterly delightful. Her character is treated with dignity and understanding, and just her existence/representation as the protagonist in a YA romance is refreshing.

A lovely story about a girl who just wants to fit in. It represents Asperger's in a careful, considerate way and I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to read this before the official release date. Thank you to NetGalley who gave me this opportunity.

It’s possible that this book did not hit me at the right time. It’s possible that I’m biased because the main character’s autism did not resonate with how I understand my son’s. For whatever reason, Grace’s sensory seeking and “brain whizzing” did not work for me and I resorted to the 30 minute read. The author and the author’s daughter both have autism.
