I felt exactly the same about this as I did about the first book, except now the romance is more prominent which I think is to the book's detriment. truly I just don't know why touraine and luca like each other or why they want to be together and yet their romance drives so much of the plot. clark's prose and the side characters rescue the series somewhat but I still kind of wish it was about someone other than the actual protagonists.

I didn't like this as much as I hoped I would. I still think this is an interesting topic, but the things that I was intrigued by in the first book were not as present here, and the things I was annoyed by were present even more.
I missed the setting of the first book. Qazal was such a cool place, and it felt very vivid, I was rooting for the people there. Here, the plot takes place in Belladaire and I felt like we hardly got any descriptions of or feelings for it and it's people. Also, the magic and mysteries from the past took a backseat, and it was all just political scheming. Which I usually enjoy, but I didn't much care here. It was just a constant back and forth, and I hated, hated, hated Luca's uncle from the first to the last page.
Not sure, I will read the third book.

I loved it so so much, this one is even better than the first one, touraine and Luca are honestly some of my favourite protagonists in a book series

Sequels are hard, but I love The Faithless just as much as I loved The Unbroken! The characters are all flawed, but somehow you can't help but love them and the chemistry between them is amazing.
Overall, C.L. Clark produced another well-written, well-plotted, and well-paced book that stands out in its genre. I can't wait for the 3rd book!
