Дуже зворушлива і сумна історія. Так все ж хочеться, щоб колись кожен міг видихнути і робити те, що саме він хоче. І не зважати на думку інших

Love this book's premise, that people still enjoy companionship, love and new experiences at every age. Like that explored levels of happiness through various life-cycles and types of relationships.

Very much disliked that this is a sad book. Everyone in it had their happiness intentionally crushed by other people who were already unhappy and couldn't bear it. Too realistic for my taste.

I loved this movie so I hoped the book would be just as good. It was a quick read and didn't disappoint.

A short, sweet book about two widowed seventy year old neighbors, Addie Moore and Louis Waters, who live in rural town in Colorado. Addie tells Louis that she is having trouble sleeping at night and wonders if he would mind sleeping with her; no sex, just talking and keeping each other company. What unfolds is a warm and caring relationship that more people should consider doing...talking to each other before they go to sleep and caring for each other.

The words from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on the back cover sums up this book so well... "A fine and poignant novel that demonstrates that our desire to love and to be loved does not not dissolve with age." The honesty and loving compassion in this book are beautiful.

A bit of self-referential humor in a last chapter that refers to the author’s earlier 3 books as plays in a theatre.

Kept my attention

I wasn't sure what to expect when reading this book. It was nice, simple, truthful. The story is sad but realistic. There is not a lot of emotion in the text so I did not get as wrapped up as normal but I just felt sad for the characters. How horrible that this is what it means to get old in our country.
