It’s more closer to a 4.75 but honestly this was everything I wanted in a cowboy romance. There are not a lot of black cowboy romances (at least that I’ve seen) and when I found this, I almost didn’t read it. I’m so glad I gave it another chance because this was fireeeee. I loved that she was plus sized and still a baddie and was rich and desired. I loved how obsessed he was with her and how he was always thinking about ways to make he comfortable. I loved that their dynamic was different than what I’ve read before. Normally the guy is more richer and has all this power to the point of it being an unbalanced power dynamic but not this book. She didn’t need him financially and they found love because they enjoyed each others company and I loved that. I highly recommend if you want a book that gives Hallmark, Lifetime and heartland vibes but make it black!!!! I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I might have to go back and read the first one to hold me over until the next book lol

I loved this book just as much as Heartbeat. Xavier is beyond the BDE. He is sexy, accommodating, in charge and a freaking black cowboy! Shayla is something else. Two words: Apple Wine! Amazing book kudos!

Whew, chile! This book took me through it! It was indeed a roller coaster ride to be sure. I loved me some Xavier! He epitomized unconditional love because real talk sometimes Shayla got on my nerves. I was happy when she finally opened her eyes. Lots of suspense, going on too. I was astonished when the villain was revealed. A superb read!

This book is slightly better than the previous ones but I cannot stress enough how the time jumps just piss me the fuck off. Chapters 30 & 31 especially.

Whew! Such a beautiful, sweet, and therapeutic story packed with drama and action. Again, the author writes in a way that reading is similar to watching your favorite limited series (soundtrack included!). Reading along with the playlist heightens the experience of reading this work of art. Shayla is me, I am her, and I just loved how she fought to overcome her past while healing and becoming her authentic self. Xavier is THAT GUY. Shayla’s cowboy is gentle, caring, and attentive. Just what she needs. Someone who truly sees her and doesn’t want to change her. She’s his chaser. And he doesn’t mind chasing her. Yes, we get to see Mike, Maya, and the whole Rough Ridge crew (and some new additions), and get a glimpse into life during and after the aftermath of all the drama and fallout of Heartbeat. What a ride! 🐎

 Seriously?! Ohhhh it was everything!

Ok Shayla and Xavier had a lot going on but honey the Cowboys in these books know how to love on a woman...it may be so much love that sometimes it may boil over but it's love all the same.

Broody, strong, family oriented Xavier, riding through life trying to conquer his past traumas and fierce, strong, ambitious Shayla running on prayers trying to take care of everyone around her. I'm saying, read Heartbeat and then read this one so you aren't trying to figure out who the characters are.

I enjoyed this story so much and seeing all the drama unfold just added another layer to love.

Read it!!!

This book was long, and it was chaos... I think. I read it before I went on vacation and I barely remember it now. I just know it was long, it felt heavy and I wanted to be done half way through.

I liked the mix of action and romance. Loved seeing Shayla come into herself (some of it took a minute but that was the journey).

Naively got my hopes up that this would be better than book 1 since it was appropriate length for an average romance but the same thing happened, after they officially get together the book falls apart in my opinion.

1. I didn’t need a continuation of the drama from book one. Give me fresh conflict. 2. These people are not agents or spies or anything, they’re just socialites/entrepreneurs, I couldn’t continue to suspend disbelief for the absurd bs they find themselves in.
