This was awesome. It's not very often that I feel bad for protagonists, but I was rather worried about the beginning about the kind of trouble our hero was getting himself into. I blame the author. At any rate, it's an excellent read that wraps up nicely (if you're series adverse), so go get a copy already.

Pretty similar in plot and tone to "The Walls of the Universe" by Paul Melko and "The Homeward Bounders" by Diana Wynne Jones, where the hero gets displaced into a series of parallel universes and has to find his way home. Wynne Jones did it best, of course, but this one is not bad at all. Pretty fast read (I read it in one sitting), but the language was serviceable at best, and clunky in a number of spots.

This book's been on my to-read list for ages. I finally got it from the library and it totally sucked me in right away. It's a super easy read and it went rather quickly. I was also very interested, so that probably helped. The physics behind the ideas in this book I could never really wrap my head around, but luckily, it doesn't really matter so much. I totally enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Good and interesting until it turned into a "stop the maniac" thriller partway through. I did like the writing, though, and the universe-hopping was fun. I would've liked it better if it was more like Sliders, though, I think--trying to get home and dealing with each of the universes on the way.

I liked the premise to begin with, but the more Ephraim figured out about what was going on, the more I enjoyed this book (and the more struck I was by the consequences of what the coin and the characters did). I really liked the characters (even Mary Shelley, who initially seemed the least likely to have much meat to them, totally grew past their entertaining name), and I loved the resolution. Plus, I finished it in about a day.

I really enjoyed this book, my first instinct is to give this 5 stars but I like to think about a book a while before I give anything 5 stars. Sometimes a book just ends well but then you do not ponder it afterwards. I have a feeling this book will be one I will think about afterwards for a while. If thats confusing its because I came back and updated it to the five it deserved. I went in not knowing what to expect and maybe thats for the best because the story that E.C. Myers weaved was both surprising in a lot of ways and just well written all around. The hero of the story finds a magical coin or so he thinks that can grant his wishes. Maybe not entirely without consequence but at first it seems quite good. There are a few really good twists and a really good ending. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I am going to go buy it right now!

This book amazed me - I went to bed early to read it, and then simply could not put it down. The "make a wish" coin is handled in a very interesting way (no spoilers from me), and the characters are developed - only a handful are undeveloped, and those are the ones we only encounter a handful of times.

Fun book but not the best young-adult sci-fi out there. Fun enough that I'll read the next one though.
