📚 Genre: Cozy mystery
It's Christmas time at Sun, Sand and Tea, and Everly is hosting an early party for her friends. Later in the evening, her Aunt Fran announces that she is running for mayor against the current mayor Dunfree. Shortly after a heated exchange, the mayor is found dead with Aunt Fran near by. Now it's up to Everly to clear her aunt's name.
💕 Positives:
* I enjoyed the animal side kicks making a bigger appearance.
* It was nice seeing the aunts make a bigger appearance in this book.
🚫 Negatives:
* I'm not a fan of the ex boyfriend coming back for a second chance trope. They're exes for a reason.
* Very small instances of politics, but not enough to stop reading the book. Basically, gun stances are mentioned and the mayor's misogyny is repeated multiple times throughout the book.
* Speaking of politics, the aunts thinking that they were groomed to not run for political office due to being women is idiotic. It's ironic that one of them is running for office in this book while saying that line. Not to mention that all of this is said after another female character (that's the same age as the aunts) is introduced as a former general and a career politician herself. So the author contradicts her own political statement within the same chapter.
* It focuses more on romance than the actual mystery. I enjoy romances, but I wanted to read a mystery not a romance book.

🌟 Overall, this book was interesting but not my favorite of the series. I really don't care for the ex boyfriend being a bigger part of the picture and I loathe any instances of politics.
So far, the first book in the series was the best one. I'll give book #4 a chance to see if the series gets any better.
