idk what colleen hoover was smoking when she came up with the idea for this book, but it worked.

I haven't had such a strong reaction to a book since the plot-twist of Gone Girl, so I'm not sure what that says either about me or this book. But it's good. Don't go into this with hopes for a typical Colleen Hoover romance because that is not what this is. There are slight romantic elements but overall this story is a thriller - and a damn crazy one. Reading Verity's manuscript is what made this work for me, because you spend the entire story inside her head in a way without her actually telling the story, and it really emphasizes the "deranged wife" narrative that we've come to expect in many modern thrillers. With that being said, the ending of this book will probably have you in such utter disbelief that you may wish to hurl the book at the nearest wall and scream. In my opinion, those are some of the best books - but be warned. The ending is whack and completely not what I was expecting to come of this story.

Bravo to Colleen Hoover for writing outside of her realm of normalcy (romance) and hitting the nail on the head with this one. Slam dunkkkkkk

Satisfied my suspense itch. Smutty, clever, and trashy. i got bored of the repetition of the plot and themes but the ending was still a good twist

I went into this with very low expectations after hearing reviews from other librarians. Colleen Hoover is really popular right now so I wanted to read one of her books for reader's advisory.

The first half was interesting enough to have me reading it quickly to get to the next part. After that, there were just so many confusing parts that it took me out of the story. There were also detailed explanations of things that didn't even end up contributing to the story.

this was creepier than i was expecting, but it would have been much more enjoyable without all the standard Colleen Hoover smut

I’ve heard a lot of things about this book and I do think it lives up to the hype! I’ve never read anything by Colleen before but you can really tell she’s a romance author from the amount of sex in this book.

The themes in this are heavy - please do check the content warnings.

Overall I really enjoyed the structure of the book and the writing was actually super enjoyable. I like how the story kept me guessing - I enjoyed the plot twist too (not my absolute fav but definitely unique).
Would recommend if you’re looking for a dark and surprisingly sexy thriller about evil wives (and husbands??)
