I read a number of the Narnia books in elementary school, but I'm fairly sure I had never read this one. I'm also pretty sure I hadn't read the ones I did in any sensible order.

It's lovely to get some lore for how Narnia came to be. It is very religious, but I don't think it would be uncomfortable for those who aren't religious.

I currently work with second and third graders. I suspect that this story might not appeal to them as much as later plots will, but given how short a read it is, I would recommend starting here.

The phonetic spelling of accents might create a challenge and young readers would definitely benefit from sounding them out aloud.

The chapter lengths feel perfect for someone to read to a child at bedtime.

Of course, this is just kicking off a proper read of the series so I will be reading the rest.

Re-read with the my daughters. Such a priceless introduction to Lewis.

I really enjoyed C.S. Lewis storytelling, but the story itself was pretty boring until they got to Narnia. Which wasn’t until you were over halfway through the book.
