For being published around 230 years ago, this book had so many salient moments of modern life, including some moments that made me giggle. GIGGLING? At a book published in the 1700’s? Remarkable.

This story of a woman's fall from grace, told through letters, was one of the few books that I was forced to read for American Literature that I enjoyed.

Although it seems different from any other book I've ever read currently, I found the storyline to be more interesting and engaging. How she continues to ignore advice from friends and family, how she puts herself in dangerous situation (dangerous to her reputation anyway), and how she does everythign she is not meant to do and the consequences of her actions. It is a well written story about the dangers of premarital sex, unladylike behavior, and of men.

While at first is seems hard to get into, eventually I couldn't put it down and had to know what was going to happen to these characters.

Overall, I liked it.

I read this a week or so ago very quickly for school. Tbh I kinda skimmed it because the formality of the language made it tough to digest at times. I LOVED the drama. I am team Eliza all the way, why does everyone insist she needs a man! I hate society and her friends are so sketch, I don’t trust them. Also Mr. Boyer is so toxic. Well they all kind of are. I would read this again just so I can understand it better
