This was really fun bedtime reading with my third grader. We thoroughly enjoyed Bob and she’s anxious to read Ruby’s story next.

Unsurprisingly, I enjoyed this book slightly more than I did The One and Only Ivan. It has the same heartfelt narrative and loveable characters, but being from Bob's point of view really added something special. He was my favorite character in the first book, so why wouldn't I love the book that puts him front and center? Next is Ruby, and I'm sure I'll love it, but this one will be hard to beat!

The One and Only Bob is the sequel to The One and Only Ivan, except this time we are following Ivan's friend, Bob, who is a dog. The story takes place just as a hurricane is about to hit the area in which Bob, Ivan, and Ruby live, and tragedy strikes. Through the series of events that take place in the novel, Bob is forced to confront his past and learn about forgiveness. I flew through this book, and although not as good as it's predecessor, it is still a great follow-up to it.

Sweet and funny but not as amazing as Ivan's book.

Listened to this on audio with my kid. It was a fun story with both a lot of touching & comedic moments and the narration by Danny Devito was great. Since I didn't read the first book, I can't really compare but I trust my kid who did & thinks "Ivan" should be 5 stars & "Bob" wasn't quite as good so should be 4.
