Although I loved the first book (and in some ways prefer it storyline wise) this book was so much better for several reasons.
We got to know the characters, and the worlds of the angels and demons, better. The writing style has improved immensely; although it was good in the first book it feels more polished in this one.
I love how this story, although about angels and demons, isn't just a cut and dry 'the angels are very very good and the demons are very very bad,' there are marvellously complex areas of moral grey.
I was completely immersed in this story and if the second book has improved this much I can't wait to see what book three brings.
All in all this is shaping up to be a great trilogy.

Awesome!
Absolutely loved this book and am eagerly awaiting the next. This one was every bit as good as the first if not better. Reminds me of Supernatural. Great characters, exciting plot, and fast-paced action are trademarks of this series.
