A sweet and fun summer read perfect for the beach or lounging in the garden.

As usual with Kat French books this is hard to put down and I'll be buying a copy for my friend to take on holiday.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Look, I didn't like what happened in the book and I didn't like the characters even more, but it was theatrically funny and I was hysterical 😂. The entire story was somehow comedic but every one was so serious that's why it was so funny. I'm not sure if I want to rant about how I dislike the romance without spoiling everything so I leave it at that. But this book was so unserious. It was a lighthearted read, but make sure you check the trigger warning.

Join the vibrant quirky Violet on her quest of self-discovery as she leaves her stable but unfulfilling lifestyle to take on a running an inherited pier. The charming Swallow Beach soon casts her under its spell. Join her in this novel packed with laughter, lust, and love. Though of course, it's not all plain sailing and there are moments of frustration, tears, and heartbreak. French writes her best book yet with this truly engaging story with real heart and the full spectrum of emotions. A perfect summer read, pick it up you won't regret it!

Relaxing & laugh-out-loud 3,75 stars.

I did not quite like this book by Kat French as much as [b:The Bed and Breakfast on the Beach|35390444|The Bed and Breakfast on the Beach|Kat French|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1496950816s/35390444.jpg|55014128], but it was still very entertaining and if you are looking for a light beach-read, this may be a great choice.

There were a few things I was dissatisfied with -like the insta-love and a rather abrupt ending with a few loose ends fluttering around- but the positive outweighs the negative issue nevertheless.

If you read the blurb, you won't be in for any big surprises, but this book is not a mystery after all even though it has a bit of a flirt with that genre, but in the end it just reverts back to where it belongs: romance/chick-lit.

A Summer Scandal is a delightful romance. I loved Violet. She’s this super sassy character who inherits her grandfather’s pier and apartment in a seaside town in England. Violet soon moves to the apartment and gets a chance to know more about her grandmother and her secrets. She soon meets Calvin and a romance between the two begins to grow. This was a very light read, and I really enjoyed reading it by the pool on a nice warm day in May. This book is much more than just a simple romance. This is a cute and funny chic-lit that will certainly please fans of the genre.

I’d like to thank Avon Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a library book that appeared in my requests, maybe by accident but I’m glad it did as I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The plot appealed to me for its uniqueness, and the idea of an adult-themed arcade was done well. The story and characters developed slowly at first, and I loved the romantic tension that built up between the lead couple. While the book was very well rounded in lots of ways; the evocative love scenes were what made the reading experience for me. The ending surprised me, kept me on my toes and things were wrapped up nicely. I look forward to reading more from this author for sure.
