So goooood :)
I was afraid of reading this book since I am not a fan of Roshani Chokshi's YA books .... But with an endorsement by Rick Riordan, I had to try and boy am I not disappointed one bit !
This book was like Percy Jackson really : sweet, funny, easy to fall into. I was afraid of the Hindu mythology but Roshani did a wonderful job, it was clear from the very first page (plus you have a funny glossary) just great really great book, can't wait to read the second one :)

When I purchased this book, I was at my first author event and I was about to meet the wonderful Roshani Chokshi. It took many months after for me to finally up the book because it had been many years since I had read middle grade. Eventually. I got over myself and picked up this hilarious, action-packed, warm novel. I would have cherished this as a child. I would've devoured the representation and the HEROINES. I am so happy she told this story and so happy kids get to see themselves on the page. It was brilliant and I want more, please.

Some of what the author did with the Hindu myths was fun, but the characters were unbelievably dumb. Terrible wordplay all over the place. I like the pigeon, could have done without the condesencion to middle schoolers.

I really enjoyed this one! It was a really fun and entertaining book. My book has many page markers in it for all the spots I enjoyed. While I found Aru to be a little immature at times, I feel like it was right for her personality to have those times to act silly. I mean she is only 12. I definitely was able to see her character grow throughout the book and I loved that!
I have to say my favorite character is Mini. I related to her so much, especially when it was with her love of books.
I absolutely love how Chokshi had a strong emphasis on girl power throughout the book. I loved when Mini and Aru would correct people when they said heroes to heroines. I'm so excited for young readers to read this so they can feel just as powerful as Aru and Mini.
I can't wait to see what is in store in the next books!
