Historical fiction mystery. 15 year-old Evelyn, her mom, and stepdad head down to Florida and spend the late summer and fall at a hotel. Post World War II. She meets Peter, who served with her stepdad Joe in the army during the war. Relationships are messy. Lies are told. I liked this plenty, but it didn't draw me in like I feel like it could have.

3 of 5 stars = I liked it
Fairly predictable but still a fun read.

An intense coming-of-age novel about a family full of secrets, set in NYC and Florida right after WWII. In some ways it reminded me of one of my all-time favorite books, Autumn Street by Lois Lowry, although that one is non-romantic and about a child.

It was good, but just ok, not great. Interesting read. Maybe a bit predictable, but still enjoyable.

I wish this book would have been better. I had such high hopes for it. But I felt like the story was at times rushed and then at times too slow. I could not relate to the characters at all.

I enjoyed this book however the ending, I think, could've been better. It was the first teenage book I ever read.

This book was uncomfortable to read. But great. It was difficult because I knew things were not going to turn into the first romance Evie was dreaming of and moreover, that her mom was a little questionable. I love the way Blundell resolved everything--it was angsty, realistic, and even poetic. A great book and worthy of the NBA.

This book is interesting... I'm not sure how I feel about it. It is a little strange.
