I read this as part of a 52 books in 52 weeks challenge, under the category "a book based in your hometown." While the descriptions of touristy Ottawa landmarks were accurate, the timing to get around was unbelievable (they drive to her apartment in Nepean then change their mind and go to Tim Hortons downtown? so strange.) It read as though the author had taken a nice vacation to Ottawa once and wanted to put everything she'd seen into one book. Can't criticize that, I guess, it's a beautiful city.

If you like cute, fluffy romances where the woman learns a grand predictable lesson about herself in the end, A+. I gave this book 4/5 stars because sometimes that's all my brain needs, but I did find the "paranoid mormon girl as CIA operative" story quite unbelievable (She had to drink a coke on the job, egad!), therefore I couldn't get attached. I'll skip the sequels.

A fun spy story! Lots of spy stuff, humor and some romance too. I sympathized with the main character who couldn't tell her boyfriend about her "real" job and why she was always late or canceling on him. I liked the LDS aspect of the story too. Looking forward to the next one!

Talia Reynolds is a CIA operative. She is having a hard time right now, because her boyfriend Danny is demanding a lot of her time, but so is her job.
She's always thought that loving someone would jeopardize her job, so she didn't really let herself get to that point. However when bad things start to happen with the Russian's she's not so sure she was right any more.

This is a wonderful story about a women who has to do some very dangerous things for the CIA, finding out that maybe what she really needs to be fighting for is her boyfriend.

Talia is a wonderful women who is very good at her job. She is used to taking risks, and now she might be taking one of the biggest she's ever taken. Danny, is also a good guy. We don't really see a whole lot of his personality. But when it really counts he's there for Talia.

This book has lots of action, drama, and some romance. I love women CIA agents, they rock! And Talia is one of the best. I can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this book, if your into the women is good at kicking butt.

The story is pretty good. However, the writing it pathetic. I wanted to like this book, and tried multiple times to get through it. In the end, however, I could not force myself to finish. I'm giving it 3 star because there are people who obviously do like the book, and it isn't universally bad. It just isn't what I like.

First, the main character is kind of flaky. This is annoying in any book, but in one where she is supposed to be a CIA agent, it really doesn't make any sense. I get that she can't tell her boyfriend where she really works, but her excuses are over the top. Then she spends her time with the target of the investigation thinking about her boyfriend. Sorry, when you are having to maintain a cover story with someone this dangerous, you have to be able to focus.

Second, the book is rather preachy. I get that they are religious, so don't do sexual things. Fine, great. Now get on with the story. I don't need to be reminded every few pages about how devout the main character is.

Finally, everything seems to move so slowly. It really doesn't, but the writing style makes things seem a lot worse than they are.
