If you’re deciding between reading this or Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology. This is better. It includes more myths than Gaiman’s book and the translation is closer to the original content, where as Gaiman takes more liberties adding details to the stories.
This is my favorite compiled translation of the Norse Myths.

I read this book awhile back. I found it at my public library at time when I was really questioning religion and it opened a door to norse paganism that I stepped right into.
This book makes the norse myths more digestable and understandable even though they are very much far from that. You get to know the gods as characters like from a story. The book is written like a story. This style of presenting the myths makes them enjoyable and coherent story.

I absolutely loved this book! I am a huge fan of mythology, and I originally had used this for a report on the Norse Myths, but once I started reading the stories, I couldn't put it down! Kevin Crossley-Holland retells the timeless Norse myths in a novel format, complete with dialogue. The character's personalities are very clear, and I enjoy reading the dialogue between them. The stories are rather easy to understand, and because of that they are very enjoyable. My favorite Norse characters, such as Thor, Odin, and Loki have been given wonderful voices and stories, and Crossley-Holland makes them loveable and timeles. I have never loved reading mythology so much, and I am definitely going to read it again.

These were some interesting and pretty funny myths. Gotta love Loki. One of my denser school books though.

This is the book that made me into a big nerd in college, and it took me years to recover.
