I believe these kinds of books are so important to read. While it does contain a lot of history it did not feel difficult to read and it is interesting to learn about the lives of many Black women in America. It is emotional and informative

I read this for a class but I'm so glad I did. As a white woman in America I think it's important to read about and learn from people my ancestors have oppressed. If we want to move forward in society in a positive direction we have to start truly listening to each other putting aside our own pride and defenses. A book like this focusing exclusively on Black Women is immensely important.! I don't feel right giving this an official rating or critiquing it too much. This is definitely an educational history book that makes sure you learn information. But it wasn't too hard to read. I'm actually glad I forced to read this in slow chunks instead of all at once. It helped me absorb the information better. Highly Highly recommend. Probably one of the most important books I will read this year!
