Amazing once again. Jenny Colgan is one of my favourite authors and this is a great short book that I love. Brilliant story.

I don’t love a lot of cozy romances, but Jenny Colgan just hits different and I love them.

Loved, loved, loved  this town and its characters!

This was an endearing love story set in a quaint, little Scottish Highland town.

A romance set againts the backdrop of saving rural towns was right up my alley.

However, I wish the romance had been a bit more developed. You can really seen Jenny Colgan’s writing growing from this novel to her most recent ones.

I checked out at some point during while listening to this reissue for a good hour and half and yet I could pick it up without going back no problem. I think I find it generally interesting, but in that same way you settle for something in your netflix queue that's always suggested for you and you just happen be invested enough to finish when you finally cave in and click it so it will disappear.

Pretty formulaic, but also the narrator's voice is quite calming. There are moments that are honestly quite funny! It's just overall not for me. The characters don't feel like actual people, just outlines. Something easy to pass time.

Another cute Jenny Colgan book. Pretty much followed her usual storyline. Fun characters, funny dialogue, cute love story, outrageous shenanigans.

DNF. I like Jenny Colgan but the characters are so unsympathetic and the writing so mean-spirited that I could only read 25 pages. Just no.

I've only read one other book (The Bookshop on the Corner) by Jenny Colgan, but the two were eerily similar. I wonder if she's a bit formulaic. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the humor, but the plot and the characters are just too.... fake. It's over the top and not in a good way. Katie can't find a decent date in all of London, there is simply too much competition. When she gets sent up to Scotland on assignment, she is amazed to discover that there are men everywhere and nary a lass in sight! The dating odds are finally in her favor! Not that she has much time to think about dating though. Her boss has her work cut out for her trying to brainstorm ways to save the forest from being torn down to build a golf course. Her best friend Louisa has accompanied her on this trip and the two of them find themselves enjoying the quaint town life, interesting traditions, and handsome single men. Only , things can't stay perfect for long. Katie is bound to muddle something up! Love triangles, ridiculous scenarios, and ridiculous people. This book is ok as a beach read; but even that might be pushing it.
