This recommended by a friend. It is a fictional story of a woman's life and her struggles. I don't care for these type books.
There were sad, emotional, unfortunate parts. I didn't love it or get much out of it other than life sucks, we're responsible for our own healing, and life is too short.

this book was slow moving and took me a while to get through, but it was worth it. Dolores is deeply unlikeable but she is very real. There were a few parts that were hard to read because they were painful and harsh, but i liked that the book didn’t shy away from it. I wish she would have been able to find herself and build her dream life while fat so it didn’t seem like once she lost the weight her life turned around, and i found the therapy she went through very creepy, but mostly I thought it was well done.

I really don't see how anyone could hate Dolores. Yes she lashes out and is mean... but shes in so much pain.

I reread this book every couple of years. The main character is so perfectly flawed and I love her. This is one of the few books written by a man from a female perspective that is actually believable. I really enjoy the writing!
