This book is nearly impossible for me to describe, but it's beautiful and important.

spoken word poetry

i think everyone needs to read this

i will visit it again most definitely but i loved it

i feel like as a society we need to really analyze race and class and all the in betweens. i live in a predominantly white area, and i think everyone in the suburbs need to read this. their ignorance is bliss.

I've had trouble figuring out how to review this one, but it all came together after seeing Claudia Rankine speak this past weekend. Go check it out on my blog, Shaina reads.

Provocative truly exemplifies this set of essays on race. They will provide me with food for thought for a long time.

A painful, sobering, necessary read. I wish it weren't so timely. 2018: still so painful and true.

i think people rate these sort of books highly because they think they should rather than because of the depth or intensity of the narrative. Foe me it was a series of vignettes that just didn't delve enough.
