I received this book as an ARC from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ugh, this was so cute and just what I needed! I absolutely adore fresh takes and diverse perspectives in romance novels. While this is predominantly a cute little story about two people falling in love while on the set of a cooking show, it tackles so many important issues in a very tactful and informational way. I just adored these two main characters, and the side characters were equally cute including Dahlia and London's siblings and the other contestants on the show (ugh, Cath & Barbara <3). I flew through this book and honestly read it in about 24 hours, but it will stick with me as one of my favorite romance books that I've read in a while. Can't wait to read more of Anita Kelly's work!

For those that like to be made aware of these things ahead of time, some content/trigger warnings include sexual content, homophobia, and transphobia.

Thanks again to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC! I loved this one!

Overall, a fun read!! I really appreciated the “easy” romance with a nonbinary MC. So far, a lot of the books I’ve read with nonbinary characters have all had a lot of angst about coming out, and not them just… living life. I liked the food show setting, too!! And the parts where clear boundaries were set. What I wasn’t wild about was the fact that it felt very flat im terms of tensions. There was a small uptick in tension towards the end but overall, it got intense early and stayed that way, hence feeling flat. I also kind of wish we knew a bit more about the BTS with Janet and the judges and their decisions.

Ok Dahlia and London are just the cutest. The gender and sexuality rep in this book is great. As a cis woman, I don’t know first hand the struggles London experienced but I felt like they were represented really well. The cooking show trope was cute but I’m a little burnt out on food romances in general, they seem to be everywhere recently! Overall this was a really cute story with lovable characters.

Overall an enjoyable rom com to read, loved the nonbinary representation. At times it leaned too much on the classic romance tropes which is why it’s only a 3.5 star read for me
