My 2-year old son really liked reading this over and over, though probably loved the firefighter one better. The pictures were cute and it's humorous, though I wonder how much of the humor my son really understood.

A young teddy bear feels sick...so he becomes a doctor. Treats his schoolmates with cookies, causes a disturbance, and gives the principle quite a series of diagnoses!

Fun for older preschoolers, kids going to the doctor, and for parents to grin along.

Typical "Ted" story - fun story line and humor, with great illustrations. But, a little text-heavy for preschoolers. Would be a great read-aloud with young elementary kids.

Very sweet story. Illustrations are simple. "Ted" acts like any kid with a great imagination.

I love the illustrations in the book and especially love Ted's big huge head. This is a perfect example of how kids can get caught up playing pretend. I didn't like how his mother and teachers got ticked off at him for playing doctor though.

Cute, but pretty negative portrayals of adults.

Berry was obsessed with this book for several weeks! She is very interested in doctors and Ted's attempts to treat his patients were too funny!

Ted, a young bear, bumped his knee as he got up and realized that he needed a doctor. Not seeing one anywhere, Ted decided instead to become a doctor himself. Now he is ready to deal with his mother's possible case of the measles, his teacher's probable mumps, and the many issues his principal faces. Somehow no one appreciates his help, until an incident at the playground shows exactly why every school has room for another doctor.

This book is a treat. The illustrations are boldly done with their bright colors and thick black outlines. Ted is a charming main character whose embodiment of his new role is believable and very funny. The writing in the book is frank and simple, adding to the humor. It is perfect for reading aloud, especially for a smaller group where the pictures can be enjoyed more fully.

Let's hope that Doctor Ted will be making housecalls all across your neighborhood. Appropriate for ages 4-6.
