I did not expect this to be a story steeped in magical realism. It was a pleasant surprise.

The setting and initial mystery kept my interest for most of the story. Unfortunately the ending and minimal character development prevent this from being a five star review. At times it seems to sacrifice plot to promote the author’s philosophy.

Still, it is worth reading and while I don’t share her worldview, others might appreciate her message.

This is a good start for a novel career. With the right editor, and a willingness to challenge her characters, she can go very far.
