Me ha gustado mucho, hay algunas partes donde me ha costado más leerlas por el simple hecho de que no me gustaba de lo que hablaba, pero las últimas 100 páginas me las he comido del tirón.

Tengo muchas ganas de leer los dos libros siguientes

I really loved this book it was a great historical and paranormal read different than any other I have read. I really liked the characters especially Gemma I found the love interest Kartick he was interesting in that mysterious way. What I really loved about Gemma was how headstrong she was her ability to stand up for herself and her dry wit I really liked her so very much. I really liked the plot is started with something horrible happening the death of Gemma's mother after that she goes off to a school many strange things happen with Gemma thinking she is going crazy for awhile before learning a lot about her abilities and getting along with three girls Ann,Felicity, and Pippa and sharing with them what is going on with her. Then the story starts to get darker many things are found out something horrible happens and then the story ends. So overall I am looking forward to reading more will continue the series soon.

This book is something I wish I would have discovered when it was released in the early 00’s. I would absolutely put it on a “what to read instead of Harry Potter” for young teenagers. It’s got the good stuff: tragic family, mysterious powers, boarding school, enemies to friends.

So why the two stars? For me, my literary tastes have moved on. I’m also older than the target audience. There is language in this book that was still used 20 years ago to describe the Romani people that doesn’t fly today. The book does read “older” and the characters and plot are a little slow and not as captivating or endearing as YA novel characters today. There’s also the fact that this book is part of a trilogy, and while I can see it as a stand alone, I really don’t find it interesting enough to continue.

Read if: you’re a young person (12-16 would be the sweet spot imho), if you like Nancy Drew style of mystery and intrigue, and if you’re into the HP aesthetic.

I would probably give this book 3.5 stars if I was able. I found the story somewhat intriguing but it was not quite what I was expecting. I know that there was a lot of character development and I liked the characters, but at times the story fell flat for me. I also have to admit that I did not quite get the whole purpose of the Order and their place in the realms. I would imagine that this may be addressed in more detail in future books. Overall, a good read but is not what I would term "unputdownable".

Well paced, but there were too many unnecessary characters. It wasn't as scary as I thought it might be.

Interesting book. It was a little weird. I like Gemma at the beginning of the book.

I really like to read Young Adult fiction. I really like historical fiction. I saw this series (three books to be exact) on someones blog and added them to my list. YA and "Historical Fiction" What wasn't to love? The characters were easy to relate to, the plot was easy to follow. There were a few parts that were a bit slow for me and I was left with a feeling that I was missing some inside joke that everyone else knew. Maybe when I finish the series I will be in on what is going on!

Love this series. A great portrayl of Victorian England combined with an element of mystery and fantasy.
