Touching passages about grief are ruined by the
anti-abortion
propaganda twist ending.

Unbelievable.
So many twists and turns, I'm genuinely speechless.

Check the warnings please, other than that, what a strong story.

3.5

I’m having a hard time giving this one a 3.75 bc usually the books I put in that category are weakly written or sorta “fluffy” but I enjoyed them so I give them more than 3.5, just not quite 4. In this case. The writing was fairly sophisticated and enjoyable, but the plot was just too lacking to give it a 4.
At 200(of 300) pages I was still waiting for something to happen with these characters that had been so developed. A few things happened but nothing like the bang I was expecting (or hoping for). I often enjoy character-over-plot type books but the characters in this book didn’t engage me enough to carry the story. There was no one I particularly cared for or rooted for or even hated enough.
Also, for a ghost story, the ghosts really didn’t contribute much. They were semi involved with one of the characters but I would have liked to see more from them. The whole ghost aspect just didn’t contribute much to the story despite being a selling plot point of the book.
