I liked this book quite a bit! It was very hard to understand but that's my fault, not the books. Although the protagonist is pretty insane, i really liked reading her perspective. When I got to the end, i think there was some kind of twist but it was hard for me to understand, again probably my fault. I think I'll have to read it again. I had to have enjoyed it though cause i finished it in one sitting.

I cant decide if i liked this book or not. This is the first book I've read from this author so I didn't have any expectations going into it like many other did that read the more popular We Were Liars, but I found the writing style very unique. The book itself is written backwards, so you know the aftermath of the events before actually knowing what took place and it was nothing like I had ever read before. I was extremely confused at first and it took me a bit to get in to it, but for a book that was less than 300 pages I didn't feel rushed or overwhelmed with information, and after it started to pick up and I started learning more it began to make a lot more sense to me. I do wish it had a bit more information on the characters motives, maybe an extra chapter or 2 on her past to kind of explain why she decided to take this route. I might end up rereading this in the future now that I know what happens, I'd like to see what kind of foreshadowing the author included early on and maybe see if there were any details I missed early on.

"The American dream is to be an action hero. Americans like to fight wars. We want to change laws or break them. We're all about heading out west and grabbing land from people who had it before. Slaughtering the so-called bad guys and fighting the system. That's the American dream."

Genuine Fraud tells the story of Jule and Imogen. It is told by an unreliable narrator and begins at the end. Instead of wondering what is going to happen as with a typical mystery/thriller, you wonder when and how it is going to happen.

I like the way E. Lockhart writes her books. It's peculiar and different. She says in the author's note: "Genuine Fraud is about the worst, most hateful parts of my interior life, dramatised. With blood. And wigs. And bookshops and beaches." You can definitely sense this as you read.

I read We Were Liars last week and I read Genuine Fraud this week. I would pick up E. Lockharts works again. They may not be the worlds best books. But they scratch an itch.
